Prototyping Is Imperfect by Definition Every hardware product starts the same way. Someone decides what to build first, then where and how to build it. Those decisions run out of control more often than anyone admits, and a project that should have taken a month quietly creeps in scope until the schedule and the budget are both gone. The fix is knowing what a prototype is actually for. About this Session This is a practical session on prototyping, and Nicholas Castellani is here to get us off the ground. He'll cover how he approaches a build, the tools he actually reaches for, and what he's run into along the way. Bring your questions, and a laptop if you have something you want to pull up. About the Speaker Nicholas Castellani is a mechanical designer at Cellula Robotics, working on subsea vehicles. Prior to Cellula Robotics, he spent three years as a mechanical designer at the CfAR( Centre for Aerospace Research) designing unmanned aircraft, and is an author on a Journal of Physics paper on the development of a series hybrid multirotor. He holds a BEng in mechanical engineering and a minor in business from UVic.
