Welcome to our Book Discussion! Read along with us This time we read and discuss a book from Kazachstan 🇰🇿 (Central Asian region): AMANAT: Women’s Writing from Kazakhstan, edited and translated by Zaure Batayeva & Shelley Fairweather-Vega. Note: availability of English books at local book stores and libraries can be somewhat challenging, so make sure that you start looking into how and where to get your copy as soon as you can! Join our book discussion Together we'll create an open, inclusive space where everyone gets to share their experiences they've had with the book – reflections, insights, perspectives, and opinions. All experiences are welcomed! We split up in smaller groups in which you are encouraged to make it your own (open and informal) conversation about the book. There will also be a discussion guide available to help structure and/or deepen the conversation. Extra: As this time we read a collection of short stories, we advise you to make some notes after reading each story. This will be helpful for the book discussion! In our book club we read and discuss: books by authors from an Asian background – including diaspora authors from all 5 Asian regions – East, Southeast, South, West, Central contemporary literary fiction (novels, short stories, novellas, biographical fiction) and memoirs Please follow the Asian Book Club Helsinki on Instagram!
