DESCRIPTION:To See and Be Seen: Part III — The Literary Salon Join us for the culminating gathering of the To See and Be Seen series\, a literary series created by sisters of the yam Writing Society\, in collaboration with the Communal Reading Circle and the Community Artists’ Collective. We encourage you to bring the men in your lives: husbands\, boyfriends\, uncles\, nephews\, cousins\, and friends. Their presence and participation are important to this conversation\, and we welcome them into the space. To See and Be Seen is a public literary salon and communal writing project that explores the ongoing societal neglect and violence affecting Black women through writing\, dialogue\, and guided reflection. Featuring live readings\, facilitated conversation\, visual art\, and participatory reflection. By bringing together writers\, artists\, and community members across generations and backgrounds to engage thoughtfully with themes of visibility\, grief\, resistance\, and care. At the heart of To See and Be Seen is a refusal to be invisible. We are creating space to speak about what is often minimized\, avoided\, or carried in silence—and to consider what becomes possible when we witness one another with intention.
