He was the Dean of Städelschule and Director of the Portikus in Frankfurt and taught at the Architectural Association in London. His architectural work includes the award-winning Dresden Synagogue\, Hinzert Document Center\, Bockenheimer Depot Theater (with William Forsythe)\,
